Drayton Manor Park uses Attractions.io virtual queuing app

Air Race at Drayton Manor

Attractions.io, a leading creator of mobile visitor apps, has launched a new virtual queuing app for Drayton Manor Park when it reopens on July 4.

The new Attractions.io app will be free for guests to download on any smartphone and will help social distancing within the theme park.

Strict safety measures

Drayton Manor Park will implement safety measures when it reopens. This includes limiting which rides are open, taking the temperature of staff and guests, as well as enhanced cleaning and sanitisation measures.

The theme park was already working on a mobile app project before the coronavirus pandemic. Now, Attractions.io’s app will be vital for helping the park reopen safely.

Alexa Hickling, Director of Sales and Marketing at Drayton Manor Park said “The park was keen to invest in new technology to remove common points of friction and help guests make the most of their visit. We chose Attractions.io for their comprehensive platform functionality and innovative approach.

“When the pandemic struck, Attractions.io were really proactive, helping us identify opportunities to use the app to help improve guest safety as well as their experience. We’re confident that the app will deliver significant value to our guests and our team both now and in the future.”

Join a virtual queue within the app

Attractions.io’s app will help guests socially distance within the park as they will not have to stand in close proximity within a queue. Guests are instead able to wander around the park once they have joined a virtual queue. They receive a notification when it is time to return to the ride.

As well as being COVID-19 secure, a virtual queue helps to reduce frustration from guests who are stuck in a long queue.

The new app has several other features that ensure it will remain useful after COVID-19. There is an interactive map, live wait times and a wayfinder.

The built-in day planner works seamlessly with the virtual queuing system, allowing visitors to plan their itineraries and join a virtual queue in one intuitive flow.

CEO of Attractions.io, Mark Locker, said “We’re delighted to have been able to support Drayton Manor Park in their aspirations to improve their digital guest experience. Technology will be a key part of the new normal for the theme park experience and parks like Drayton Manor Park who embrace new technology early will be able to secure an early advantage which will be vital for re-building guest confidence and ensuring a strong recovery.”

Attractions.io recently created an app for Djurs Sommerland to help the park reopen safely.
