Silvergate Media renews Octonauts IP partnership with Sea Life and rolls out Virgin Active swim programme

Creative content and licensing company, Silvergate Media, has renewed its Octonauts IP partnership deal with SEA LIFE until 2019.

The company has also announced a new initiative that puts the Octonauts at the centre of a new Virgin Active swimming scheme for youngsters.

The Octonauts children’s TV series is broadcast in over 100 countries across the world including Disney Channel in the USA and CBeebies in the UK. The show has also become a huge hit in China since it launched on CCTV in 2014. Octonauts episodes have attracted over 1 billion views globally on YouTube.

Silvergate Media’s partnership with SEA LIFE brings the show’s core themes of science, conservation and teamwork to life for fans throughout SEA LIFE attractions across the UK.

This year, UK SEA LIFE centres launched the Octonauts Octo-Glow Explorers event. Kids got the chance to immerse themselves in a range of interactive activities to learn how creatures of the deep use light to hide from predators, attract their prey and talk to each other.

Octonauts 4D immersive experience

Birmingham’s SEA LIFE centre is also home to an immersive 4D Octonauts cinema experience. Viewers take a trip down the Amazon in the company of the show’s characters.

The Octonauts Swimming Programme has been launched in partnership with the Swimming Teachers Association (STA), and Virgin Active. Designed to encourage young swimmers to build self-confidence and strength in the water, the scheme is now running at all 26 Virgin Active Family Clubs in the UK. What’s more, a further 138 leisure clubs have also taken up the offer.

“The high level of brand awareness and fan loyalty that we have for Octonauts in the UK enables us to form the fantastic partnerships that we have to date,” reports Lisa Macdonald, VP, Consumer Products and TV Sales EMEA at Silvergate Media.

“It’s hugely important that we keep the brand fresh for its dedicated fan-base. We’re therefore delighted to be seeing young fans enjoying real life water adventures with Octonauts across the UK.”
