Christie Boxer 4K30 projectors are delivering breath-taking visuals for a new Great Wall of China virtual flight experience.
Positioned as ‘the first Great Wall-themed 3D dome in the world’, the attraction features a 180-degree dome, measuring 18 metres in diameter.
The theatre is located at Badaling on the outskirts of Beijing, the most visited part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The installation by Christie partner, Wincomn Technology, features ten Boxer 4K30 projectors, each boasting 30,000 lumens.
According to Tony Chen, Wincomm Technology’s General Manager, visitors had very high expectations of the projection system:
“Our task was to create a high quality 3D dome theatre featuring bright and colourful visuals to complement realistic audio and motion effects,” he explained.
“We are honoured to play a role in the completion of the world’s first 3D dome theatre with motion seats. The Boxer 4K30s performed admirably throughout the installation and commissioning phase.”
The state of the art dome theatre features six-axis motion seats, the first of their kind in the world. Bright and lifelike images in 6K resolution are further enhanced with realistic surround sound to deliver a highly immersive and sensory flight across China and the famous Great Wall.
“Christie is very honoured to have played a significant role in making the ‘Dreams of the Great Wall’ 3D Dome Theatre the hottest new attraction at Badaling,” said Lin Yu, Vice President, Christie Asia Pacific.
Christie Boxer 4K30 projectors are renowned worldwide for their high brightness, 4K resolution, omni-directional deployment capabilities and reliability. Other benefits include Christie® TruLife™ processing as well as single-phase power and built-in warping and blending.
“We’re delighted that the end-user is satisfied with the end results and this is a clear illustration of the Boxer 4K30’s undisputed performance and reliability,” added Jason Pei, Deputy General Manager, Christie China.
