Cosm reveals agreement with ESPN

First venues are set to open this year

Cosm, a global technology company that builds end-to-end solutions for immersive experiences, has revealed a new multi-year agreement with ESPN which will bring live events from college and professional sports to Cosm’s upcoming immersive venues in “Shared Reality”.

Shared Reality is an experience spanning the virtual and physical worlds, using Cosm’s groundbreaking technology and 87-foot diameter, 8K+ LED domes.

ESPN’s extensive live premium sports programming package will enable Cosm to produce and broadcast major events at both professional and college levels. The US Open tennis, NBA, NHL, College Football Regular Season and Playoffs, Men’s and Women’s College Basketball, College Baseball and Softball, selected UFC Fight Nights, and other events are included in the agreement.

Jeb Terry, CEO and president at Cosm, says: “This agreement represents years of collaboration with ESPN as we continuously work to bring fans some of the biggest and best sports events in the world.

“Now, we get to extend our work into Shared Reality, a new category of entertainment bringing fans closer to the action than ever before, with the same standard of excellence that ESPN stands for. With the addition of sports like tennis, incredible new college content, and a wide breadth of championship coverage, Cosm can now super serve every sports fan, regardless of their favorite sport, team, or league.”

Kevin Lopes, ESPN vice president of sports business development and innovation, comments: “ESPN has always had a relentless passion to provide fans with unique, innovative experiences. What we’re doing with Cosm is a prime example of that, and one that marks another exciting step into the world of immersive sports presentations for fans.”

The first two public locations, in Hollywood Park in Los Angeles and Grandscape in Dallas, are expected to open in 2024. They will feature cutting-edge visuals that combine the crowd’s energy with sophisticated food and beverage service. Visitors will experience the feeling of being in the front row, courtside, or rink-side at live events happening all over the planet.

Further information about the event schedule will be released at a later date.

Earlier this month, Cosm announced the expansion of its Premium Media Program through a new partnership with Cosmic Picture, an acclaimed producer and distributor of transformative and profound immersive films.
