Epic Universe is driving spending and attendance across Universal Orlando

Revenue increased by 19 percent at Universal’s theme parks in the second quarter of 2025, boosted by the new Epic Universe destination in Orlando, Florida.

For the quarter ended 30 June, revenue was $2.349 billion, up by 19 percent from $1.975bn for the same quarter in 2024, Universal’s parent company Comcast has reported in its financial results.

Universal’s theme parks segment is part of Comcast’s content and experiences division, which has also reported revenue growth of 6 percent.

This increase was “led by theme parks, with the successful opening of Epic Universe, which is having a positive impact on our overall Universal Orlando Resort” said Brian Roberts, chairman and CEO of Comcast.

In an earnings call, Comcast president Mike Cavanagh said the company is “pleased with the early results as Epic is already driving higher per capita spending and attendance across the entirety of Universal Orlando Resort, with strong food and merchandise sales and minimal impact on attendance at Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure”.

“Epic is the most technologically advanced park we’ve ever built – and we are getting high praise for the innovative attractions, immersive environments, three new on-site hotels, and our strong food and merchandise offering,” he added.

“High praise” for Universal Epic Universe

“As expected, our near-term focus is on expanding ride throughput to reduce early attendance constraints.”

Jason Armstrong, Comcast’s chief financial officer, said the company is “pleased with how Epic is contributing to the overall Universal Orlando guest experience and performance”.

“We expect Epic to continue to scale over the course of the year with higher attendance and per capita, as well as significantly improved operating leverage,” he said.

Performance at Universal’s international parks “remains strong”, Armstrong added.

“However, we do continue to experience pressure in Hollywood, and we think it will be a couple more quarters until we lap that,” he said.
