OpenAire has brought its signature outdoor-indoor vibe to the new Barcelona Tavern in Liberty Village, Toronto.
Diners can enjoy the restaurant’s Mediterranean cuisine in a relaxed all-season outdoor patio area thanks to OpenAire’s custom enclosure with retractable roof.
The 32-foot-long by 33-foot-deep, sloped patio roof design at Barcelon Tavern is divided into two sections. On fine days, one section can be neatly telescoped under the other, providing diners with an outdoor space that feels almost āroofless.ā The patioās corner sidewalls can also be opened along their entire lengths with expansive bi-folding windows.

Even when the roof is closed, the fresh air feeling remains
Surrounded by so much glass, that fresh air feeling remains even when the panels and roof are closed. Guests can still enjoy open views of the sky, while the large open-concept sidewalls provide a great vantage point for checking out what this vibrant downtown community has to offer.
āWe are very happy to bring another unique retractable concept to a growing area like Liberty Village, not to mention helping a successful restaurant like Barcelona Tavern grow its business in this city,ā commented Mark Albertine, President and CEO of OpenAire. āWe worked with the projectās architects, IBI Group and Greystone Design Group Inc., to create a solution that fits the spirit of Barcelona Tavern and its neighbourhood excellently.ā

Barcelona Tavern joins an increasing number of eateries looking to differentiate their offer. The OpenAire enclosure sets it apart from its competitors, providing year-round usability and low maintenance costs.
OpenAire has been designing and manufacturing high-quality, retractable roof structures and skylights for 28 years. Recent projects include an enclosure for wine experience eaterie, Sixty Vines, in Dallas and a penthouse panoramic enclosure at the Hyatt House Jersey City Hotel.
