The Hope spacecraft was launched from Earth seven months ago, marking the UAE’s first mission to Mars. It is set to reach orbit insertion today (February 9, 2021).
Expo 2020 Dubai will use Christie D4K40-RGB pure laser projectors to illuminate the Al Wasl dome in red, a tribute to the Red Planet.
Al Wasl dome is one of the world’s largest 360-degree projection surfaces. It will be lit by more than 250 laser projectors.
Her Excellency Reem Al Hashimy, Director General of Expo 2020 Dubai, said: “The Emirates Mars Mission is a true testament of our nation’s ambitious and tenacious spirit and a moment of significant pride not only for the UAE, but for our entire region as the first interplanetary mission from the Arab World.

“Just as this historic moment serves as a beacon of hope and inspiration, so will Expo 2020 Dubai bring people, communities and nations together to celebrate human innovation, imagination and ingenuity, when the first World Expo to be hosted in the MEASA region welcomes the world in the UAE’s Golden Jubilee year.”
The theme of Expo 2020 is ‘Connecting Minds, Creating the Future’. The event will celebrate innovation, collaboration and creation.
Expo 2020 Dubai will also have three sub-themes, which are ‘Opportunity’, ‘Sustainability‘, and ‘Mobility’. Pavilions will showcase these themes at the Expo site.

Expo will feature 60 live events and cultural performances every day. Each country will hold its own National Day celebration, and there will be global food and entertainment offerings.
In October, Expo 2020 Dubai sent a message of resilience as the one-year countdown began. It also confirmed the country pavilions were set to complete in 2020.
Christie, the global visual and audio technology company, has also provided its DS series laser projectors and Pandoras Box software for an immersive installation in Beijing.
Expo 2020 Dubai is set to run from October 1, 2021 through March 31, 2022.
