Disneyland Resort previously unveiled expansion plans under ‘DisneylandForward’. It is seeking permission from the City of Anaheim to build new lands at the attraction in California.
Black Panther fans are now speculating about the potential Wakanda land after Disney shared a map of its expansion plans, which include a Panther-style structure.
Twitter user Frederick Chambers pointed out the potential Wakanda entrance, writing: “SHUT THE FRONT DOOR! THAT’S WAKANDA!”
His tweet included screenshots of the expansion plans alongside images of a panther emerging from the side of a mountain in Wakanda in 2018’s Black Panther.
‘DisneylandForward’ creating new lands
“The discrepancies between the concept art and the layout are due to the ever-changing nature of this project,” said Chambers. “Nothing is approved by the city yet and the design is by no means finalized.”
“The layout, however, provides a good idea of what IPs and attractions could fit in this space,” added Chambers.
‘DisneylandForward’ involves creating new lands, with expansions currently under construction at Tokyo DisneySea potentially coming to Disneyland.
“With DisneylandForward and an updated approach, these exciting new lands and attractions coming to Tokyo DisneySea could be the perfect inspiration for the future of Disneyland Park,” said Disney.
Black Panther fans speculating
These include areas inspired by Frozen, Tangled and Peter Pan. Attractions could include a Frozen boat ride and a Tangled-themed ‘Snuggly Duckling’ restaurant.
Disney California Adventure could house some of the company’s most technologically advanced, immersive and cutting-edge entertainment.
This would take inspiration from Toy Story Land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Florida and TRON Lightcycle Run at Shanghai Disneyland, as well as Zootopia, which is currently under construction at Shanghai Disneyland.
Disneyland and Disney California Adventure are officially reopening on April 30 after being closed for more than a year in response to COVID-19.
