Mad Systems Inc., the award-winning audiovisual and interactive system designer and integrator, has begun a five-year agreement to develop interactive exhibits with the CA Department of Water Resources (DWR).
The company is working on updates for existing exhibits and enhancing others and creating some all-new exhibits, based on the client’s concept designs. In addition, existing News Kiosks have been updated with new touchscreens, interactive computers and Mad System’s touchless screen technology, supporting safe, post-COVID visits to DWR visitor centres.

New educational interactives
The existing mini-theatre will be refreshed with a large, high definition projected format. A movie selection kiosk, themed as a box office, allows visitors to select movies, powered by a touchless screen option.

Furthermore, DWR is adding an exhibit about the Roadrunner, a bird often seen around the reservoir and the visitor centre. The various graphical elements are supported by a simple touch-based interactive where kids have to find the mini-interactive to hear the sound of the Roadrunner.
A fully immersive 11 screen exhibit with an overhead dome will tell the story of a DWR Pumping/Generating Plant (PGP). The message is presented by a guide taking you through the virtual PGP and teaching visitors how water is used for electrical generation.
This exhibit features a movie produced on a 360/360 Titan camera and includes a console allowing visitors to interact with the story. Mad System’s server replays the Titan 7K file and delivers the correct part of the imagery to the appropriate screen. It also provides 3D immersive audio with a butt-kicker driven rumbling floor.
The entire system is implemented using a wireless version of Mad’s QuickSilver® technology.
In January, Mad Systems welcomed AV and interactives professional, Toni Losier, to its Business Development team. Losier first joined Mad Systems in July 2020, bringing more than two decades of experience in the AV industry with her.
