The Eden Project has announced plans to plant wildflower meadows across Dundee as part of its commitment to the city ahead of the opening of Eden Project Dundee in 2024.
The first of Eden’s wildflower meadows will be developed at Seabraes, around one mile from the former Dundee Gasworks, the proposed site for Eden Project Dundee.
Meadows will also be planted at Camperdown Park and the Michelin Scotland Innovation Parc. Dundee City Council has identified seven additional sites to be developed and maintained.
These meadows will be created at Magdalen Green, Dawson Park, Lochee Park, Myrekirk Park, Claypotts Pond, Caird Park and Claverhouse Industrial Estate.
Eden’s planting programme in Dundee

Eden’s planting programme begins in spring 2022, and the meadows will start blooming in the summer. Dan James, Eden’s development director, said the project “represents hope for a green future“.
“We are delighted to announce this fantastic project which will deliver community engagement, biodiversity, wildlife habitat and nature spaces for people to access for wellbeing, health, joy and beautification,” said James.
“Every community deserves to have green space and nature to explore and it demonstrates our commitment to Dundee to make a real difference to people and the places they live.”
Elsewhere, the Eden Project has unveiled its programme of community conversations for Eden Project North in Morecambe, which will continue throughout 2022.
