Semantic, a company that designs, creates and optimises websites for visitor attractions around the world, is celebrating the success of one of its digital projects.
Yorkshire Wildlife Park (YWP) is part of a comprehensive 400-acre venue in the UK, which witnessed the launch of The Yorkshire Hive, a brand new shopping, dining and entertainment complex at the entrance of the site last year.

The ambitious investment programme continued this year with the launch of the new contemporary Hex Hotel on-site.
The objective was to construct a single platform site that promotes the leading wildlife attraction whilst resolving issues faced by the historical website.
Semantic says it has rectified major issues with the previous site which was found difficult to update by YWP staff, complex to navigate by guests, unreliable with prolonged downtime and not completely aligned with the YWP brand.
Enhanced site, improved experience
The revamped online presence is one component of YWP’s ongoing strategy to provide improved customer service and experiences for wildlife lovers, as they head towards a summer season less affected by the pandemic.
The new sites feature a responsive mobile-first design, using APIs for a seamless ticket system integration allowing memberships, day tickets and booking experiences. The integrations are also used for adoptions, events and food & beverage and merchandise offerings.
Semantic owner Neil Lewin says: “What we have delivered is a brand new website with a highly efficient and user-friendly content management system (based on Umbraco CMS).
“Elegant and deeply themed design helps visitors find the information they are looking for – fast – including easy to follow navigation, search and filter, park map, FAQs, a members-only area, and clear calls to action make the new site a significant step forward and has helped Yorkshire level up the digital and on-site experiences.”
Developments continue
YWP’s project lead, Lindsi Blakeman adds: “The team at Semantic have been amazing throughout this project, from all here at YWP thank you so much. The project was broken down into two phases and it’s great to see our amazing new site live and bookings flooding in as we now go live with phase two.”
The website has been live for almost a year, helping the park to deliver record ticket sales last summer, as well as propelling the launch of The Yorkshire Hive to success. Similar results are expected with the Hex Hotel and Camp Lion Glamping which will feature as part of its next phase.
Semantic recently announced the launch of its “Rocket Fuel” packages, which are designed to strategically optimise existing websites along with search and conversion rate optimisation.
