Falcon’s Beyond announces Katmandu brand expansion plan

Working with Epic Story Media, company will create an animated series and video games, as well as content for consumer products

Falcon’s Beyond Global, a fully integrated development enterprise for IP-driven parks, resorts, media and merchandise, has revealed plans to supercharge the Katmandu franchise beyond theme parks by leveraging Epic Story Media’s production arm. The company will be developing an animated series and video games, as well as content for consumer products.

The Katmandu brand will showcase Falcon’s Beyond 360-degree IP Expander flywheel model, designed to accelerate IP activation and growth across multiple forms of entertainment.

Katmandu Park in Mallorca, Spain, opened in 2007 and has proved popular with visitors thanks to fun features like an upside-down house, set within imaginative hidden realms. Working with partner Meliá Hotels International, Falcon’s is now introducing more Katmandu Parks and resort destinations around the globe.

One such example is the state-of-the-art Katmandu Park Punta Cana set to open in the Dominican Republic later this year. This expands the original concept with a range of patented new technologies and interactive storytelling.

Now, Falcon’s Beyond has teamed up with Epic Story Media to expand the Katmandu IP beyond the park experience and into a global entertainment market, including content, gaming and consumer products.

This project will see the creation of an original animated series, a Roblox game, and a mobile game, as well as consumer products such as a connected trading card game, alongside the themed merchandise for Katmandu Park Mallorca and Katmandu Park Punta Cana.

Bringing the brand to life

“For more than 20 years, Falcon’s has collaborated with some of the most respected IP holders on Earth, and now, we are excited to reveal how we are bringing to life our own Katmandu brand,” says Cecil D. Magpuri, CEO of Falcon’s Beyond.

“Given the popularity of Katmandu Park in Mallorca, Spain, the brand is the perfect choice to be the debut franchise for our IP Expander model, and with Epic’s expertise in the kids and family franchise market, they make the ideal collaborator. This will be the first of many fully deployed IPs powered by Falcon’s proprietary model.”

Recently, the Falcon’s Beyond Team attended Licensing Expo 2022 in Las Vegas where they showcased innovative products from the company, like the SpectraVerse attraction system, Falcon’s Vision AR headset and ON!X interactive theatre.
