Ahead of this year’s D23 Expo, Disney has unveiled models of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure and the ride vehicles for Shanghai Disneyland’s new Zootopia attraction.
The latest projects in development for Disney’s theme parks will be shared when chairman Josh D’Amaro presents ‘A Boundless Future: Disney Parks, Experiences and Products’ at D23 Expo 2022 on 11 September.
However, Disney has already teased some of the news from the event, including a model of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, opening at Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World in late 2024.
New Tiana-themed shop at Disneyland
Based on The Princess and the Frog, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is replacing Splash Mountain. The ride picks up where the film ends, with guests joining Tiana, Naveen and Louis on a musical adventure through the bayou.
In addition, Disney has released concept art of a new retail store opening at Disneyland on 20 September 2022 in New Orleans Square.
According to Disney Parks Blog, ‘Eudora’s Chic Boutique Featuring Tiana’s Gourmet Secrets’ is a collaboration between Tiana and her dressmaker mother Eudora.
Shanghai Disneyland’s Zootopia-themed land
Elsewhere, Disney has shared a look at the ride vehicles and puppets that will be used in Shanghai Disneyland’s Zootopia-themed land. The park’s eighth themed land is under construction.
Zootopia will be located adjacent to Fantasyland. It will be a diverse and vibrant city inhabited by characters from Walt Disney Animation Studios’ 2016 film.
These include Nick Wilde and Judy Hopps, as well as Flash the Sloth, Gazelle, Officer Clawhauser, Chief Bogo and Yax the Yak.
Walt Disney Imagineering recently revealed the earliest stages of its design process for Epcot’s new Moana-themed attraction, called ‘Journey of Water’.
