Katapult shares sustainable cities at IAAPA Expo

News
Katapult Electric Daisy Day

A new solution balances combating climate change with modern, ergonomic design

Katapult, the international guest experience design agency, has invited IAAPA Expo delegates to discover a new nature-inspired vision for urban environments next week, as part of a new scheme devised with the team at the Eden Project.

The vision is the result of a 12-month project that involved the British charity Down To Earth. The project’s goal was to think about what a nature-based urban regeneration of cities might look like, with the goal of fostering thriving, sustainable, and regenerative local economies while also empowering citizens and communities.

From virtual to reality

One of the primary destination concepts, Electric Daisy, a botanical cocktail bar and cafe with outdoor gardens so that local communities may grow food together, will be highlighted by the Katapult team. IAAPA delegates will be able to fully explore the idea thanks to virtual reality headsets.

Dawn Foote, Katapult’s CEO and co-founder comments on the project saying: “Our cities are facing a stark future without intervention. Online shopping, working and entertainment habits are fueling a decline in the cities we used to call our go-to destination to live, work and play.”

“Coupled with the increasing impact of climate change, we wanted to be part of a solution that puts community, creativity and nature at the heart of our future cities. We cannot wait to show IAAPA delegates a small part of this exciting vision we have created alongside the Eden Project and Down To Earth.”
