Sea World on Queensland’s Gold Coast is launching its new Atlantis-themed precinct on 2 December. The land includes a wooden coaster and Australia’s tallest slide tower.
Sea World’s A$50 million Atlantis development was announced in 2019. According to the park, visitors will “brave colossal currents, explore a mighty creature and rule from the skies in this fully immersive precinct”.
Named ‘New Atlantis’, the themed area features three new attractions. The ‘Vortex’ swing ride is already open. The attraction reaches speeds of up to 30km per hour.
‘Leviathan’ is a new wooden coaster featuring banked turns, crossovers, drops and dips. Sea World describes the ride as “the world’s most iconic wooden coaster”.
‘Trident’ is Australia’s tallest slide tower. Riders will “defy gravity as you soar and spin freely 42 metres above the realm of the utopian destination”, says Sea World.
A$50 million ‘New Atlantis’ land
“The New Atlantis will be a game-changer for Sea World and will become a destination in its own right where our guests can experience the myths, mysteries, quests and challenges located within this new multimillion-dollar utopian precinct,” said Village Roadshow Theme Parks CEO, Clark Kirby.
The land is a “fully immersive precinct with the rides complimented by sleek, eye-catching and architecturally aesthetic theming including waterfalls, fountains, statues and hanging gardens to take guests on the ultimate Atlantean adventure”, said Kirby.
Sea World, operated by Village Roadshow Theme Parks, is Australia’s leading marine park. It covers 55 acres of land and is home to animal interactions, exhibits, rides and shows.
Village Roadshow also operates Warner Bros. Movie World, Wet ‘n’ Wild, Paradise Country and the Australian Outback Spectacular.
Warner Bros. Movie World recently announced the world’s first area inspired by The Wizard of Oz. Opening in 2024, the precinct will include a suspended coaster and boomerang racer.
