Village Roadshow has announced A$50 million investments in Gold Coast theme parks, including The New Atlantis precinct for Sea World.

Village Roadshow Theme Parks has announced significant investment in its Gold Coast theme parks.

The headline development will be The New Atlantis precinct for Sea World, featuring three major new attractions.

In addition Village Roadshow plan a schedule of investment in enhancing guest experiences, and maintaining standards of animal welfare, technology and plant integrity.

The New Atlantis rides and attractions

The first attraction to open at The New Atlantis in December 2019 will be the Vortex, an 18 meter pendulum swinging attraction.

Next to come will be The Trident, a 52 meter high spinning chair ride, opening in April 2020.

In December 2020, the Leviathan will be added. The 32 meter high wooden rollercoaster has a 1 km long track and rear-facing back two seats.

Commenting on the announcement, Village Roadshow Theme Parks CEO, Clark Kirby said, “We are proud to announce this massive line-up of new attractions for our parks in the coming months.

“The New Atlantis will be a game-changer for Sea World and will become a destination in its own right where our guests can experience the myths, mysteries, quests and challenges located within this new multi-million-dollar utopian precinct.

“The New Atlantis has been designed as a fully immersive precinct with the rides complimented by sleek, eye-catching and architecturally aesthetic theming including waterfalls, fountains, statues and hanging gardens to take guests on the ultimate Atlantean adventure.

“The precinct will also feature an amphitheatre where our team can conduct shows, presentations and activities to educate guests on how they can help protect and conserve the ocean environment, linking back to our Sea World Research & Rescue Foundation.

“At Village Roadshow Theme Parks, we are committed to providing world-class attractions and this is the first in a series of transformations for Sea World with the front façade of the park the next to undergo a facelift.”

Spit Masterplan

The New Atlantis is part of the Queensland Government’s commitment to invest $60 million into The Spit Master Plan to create a world class tourist destination – Ocean Park.

Village Roadshow recently announced that they will be operators for the new Lionsgate Entertainment World at Novotown.
