Clark Kirby is the son of Village Roadshow executive chairman Robert Kirby. Under his watch, the Australian company’s theme park business has expanded its operations by establishing new ventures in China.
Lionsgate Entertainment World on Henqin island is described as a ‘vertical theme park’ featuring IP and immersive experiences from the California film studio. Its opening this summer follows the 2018 debut of Wet ‘n’ Wild Haikou, developed in partnership with Guangxi Investment and the Mission Hills Group. After terminating licensing deals for a number of water parks in the United States, the company retains ownership of Wet ‘n’ Wild Las Vegas.
Privately-owned company by the Kirby and Burke families, Village Roadshow’s other interests include the Village Cinemas chain and a film distribution business. This makes it well suited to operate Warner Bros. Movie World on Queensland’s Gold Coast. In addition, its domestic theme park portfolio includes Sea World, Wet ‘n’ Wild, Paradise Country and the Australian Outback Spectacular.
