LT Projects celebrates AV success at Bodmin Jail attraction

News
Bodmin Jail experience

LT Projects, an interactive, immersive and creative technology specialist, is reflecting on a successful project that it delivered in Cornwall, UK. The new £8.5 million immersive visitor experience at Bodmin Jail was developed by international visitor attraction expert Sarner International. It opened in 2020 and has since gone on to win several awards.

For LT Projects, this was one of its most ambitious projects to date, helping to transform one of Cornwall’s leading historical sites into a world-class leisure destination. The firm was appointed by clients Mallino Development Group and Sarner International to specify, plan, procure, install, program and commission all AV, control and show programming elements throughout the new Bodmin Jail visitor attraction.

Immersive experience brings history to life

The new attraction uses scenic sets, special effects, films and projections, as well as the latest immersive technology, to transport visitors back to Cornwall’s murky past, enabling a first-hand experience of the life – and death – of prison inmates in the 18th & 19th centuries.

LTP won the tender to develop the audio-visual systems designs, alongside the attraction design team. The company also oversaw all the aspects of project engineering and technical design necessary to deliver a large-scale permanent installation.

The attraction design included multiple AV and interactive technologies, graphics, lighting, theming, show control and programming. In addition, the team worked on the technical installation & commissioning of a variety of mechanical scenic features, Pepper’s ghost projections, holo foil immersive video, FX lighting, and atmospheric effects. This was all fully automated with show control systems, leading the public through eight different zones.

Several leading companies worked together to make this project a reality, including Sarner International, Cod Steaks, Moonraker, AC Special Projects, PHA-INT, Durham Marenghi, Interesting AV, Dave Bartlett, Peter Key and more. Systems hardware specified included solutions from Digital Projection, Audac, AVStumpfl, Ferrofish, BluStream, Brightsign, Alcorn Mcbride and Panasonic.

LT Projects also recently worked alongside Krome Technologies to plan and deliver AV systems for the new offices of Ninja Theory Ltd., a BAFTA award-winning Xbox game studio located in Cambridge, UK.
