The 20m high ride opened on 1 July at Toverland in the Netherlands

Intamin, a creator of record-breaking amusement rides, is celebrating the launch of its new Dragonwatch parachute tower at Toverland in the Netherlands.

The ride opened to visitors on 1 July, and at around 20 meters high, the ride offers a spectacular view over Avalon World and the park beyond. Six guests can ride back-to-back on each parachute, and there is a total of six parachutes, one on each cantilever. As they ascend, riders can spot dragons hiding in the newly extended area below.

Riders will experience high acceleration both up and down, with different speeds creating a number of different ride profiles. Dragonwatch is suitable for guests over 80cm tall.

This parachute tower is easy to maintain and features a newly designed innovative belt drive system which offers a smooth and quiet operation.

Lighting enhances the experience

Lighting on both the tower and parachutes transforms Dragonwatch into a stunning night-time experience. The lighting design and theming were developed by the Toverland team. Intamin says: “Dazzling lights dance upon the colourful tower and its parachutes, creating a breathtaking nighttime show you don’t want to miss.”

Intamin recently launched a world record-breaking roller coaster at Parc Astérix, France. Toutatis opened on 8 April 2023 and is France’s fastest multi-launch coaster. With 23 airtimes, it also boasts the world record for airtimes on a steel coaster. It is part of the new Festival Toutatis attraction at Parc Astérix. Using high-quality scenography, this area describes a Gallic Festival for the God Toutatis, set in the depths of the Forest of Carnutes.

The firm also recently announced a new vertical launch roller coaster element. Using one of the market’s strongest LSM launches, visitors can now be propelled skywards with powerful linear synchronous motors. The vertical launch provides a similar sensation to that experienced by astronauts thanks to a state-of-the-art, customisable system which is designed for high speeds and accelerations.
