New land will feature DreamWorks experiences inspired by Trolls, Shrek and Kung Fu Panda

Universal Orlando is opening a new DreamWorks Animation-themed land at Universal Studios Florida in 2024.

The new land will feature DreamWorks Animation’s animated characters from franchises including Trolls, Shrek and Kung Fu Panda.

In a release, Universal Orlando said: “As guest step into this new land, their imaginations will run wild as they take in the vibrant colors, sights and sounds that surround them.”

Visitors will “share special moments with their favourite characters like Gabby from Gabby’s Dollhouse” and explore interactive play areas and attractions inspired by others.

Per the statement from Universal Orlando, the upcoming DreamWorks land is part of a series of new entertainment experiences launching at the resort next year.

It is “a continuation of Universal’s commitment to rich storytelling that places guests of all ages in the most incredible and immersive environments“, the resort added.

The DreamWorks-themed land is being built in the former location of the park’s KidZone area. Universal Orlando closed Fievel’s Playland, Woody Woodpecker’s Nuthouse Coaster, Curious George Goes to Town, DreamWorks Destination and Shrek and Donkey’s Meet & Greet in January.

In addition to Universal’s Epic Universe at Universal Orlando and a new year-round horror attraction in Las Vegas inspired by Halloween Horror Nights, Universal’s theme parks division is creating a family-friendly theme park in Texas.

Designed for families with young children, the park will be home at least four themed lands offering attractions and entertainment inspired by Universal’s stories and characters.

Universal said the proposed park, which was given the green light earlier this year, will be unlike any other in the world. It will include family-friendly attractions, playful shows, character meet and greets, unique merchandise and fun F&B outlets.

In California, Universal Studios Hollywood has confirmed that it is building the long-rumoured Fast & Furious-themed coaster after launching Super Nintendo World.
