Universal‘s new theme park will be home to immersive themed areas, attractions and entertainment.

Universal Parks & Resorts, a division of Comcast Corporation, has announced a new family-friendly theme park resort in Frisco, Texas.

Designed for families with young children, the park will be home to immersive themed areas, attractions and entertainment inspired by Universal’s stories and characters.

According to Universal, the proposed park will be unlike any other in the world. It will boast family-friendly attractions, playful shows, character meet and greets, unique merchandise and fun F&B outlets.

“We are excited about the opportunity to partner with the city of Frisco and Mayor Cheney as we work to bring this innovative, new concept to life designed specifically for a younger generation of Universal fans,” said Page Thompson, president of new ventures for Universal Parks & Resorts.

“We think North Texas is the perfect place to launch this unique park for families given its growing popularity within this part of the country.”

Part of 97 acres of land recently purchased by the company, it will be smaller than Universal’s other resort destinations. However, it will include an adjacent themed hotel and has room to expand.

Per a press release, the park will have a “completely different look, feel and scale than Universal’s existing parks and will appeal to a new audience for the brand”.

“Frisco is one of the fastest growing cities in the US and has been recognized as a great place to plant professional roots and raise a family,” said Frisco Mayor Jeff Cheney.

“This new Universal concept will continue to enhance our tax base, expand employment opportunities and bring even more fun to Frisco benefiting our residents, businesses, and visitors.”

Universal is also building the new Epic Universe theme park in Orlando, which is “right on track” for a 2025 opening.

“I was down there a couple of weeks ago and everything’s coming out of the ground,” said NBCUniversal CEO Jeff Shell in December.

“So all the infrastructure is in, a lot of the steel is in, and now it’s just a question of building [it] out.”
