Galaxy Robot Park, billed as the world's first robot-centred cultural complex, has opened near Seoul in South Korea.

The 16,500-square-foot attraction was developed by Seoul-based entertainment and technology company Galaxy Corporation.


Officially opened on 21 August, Galaxy Robot Park features robots that can box, hug, draw portraits, make ice cream and play the piano.

Additionally, the park includes a venue called 'Robot Arena' where humanoid robots, made by China's Unitree Robotics, dance to K-pop hits such as 'APT' and 'Soda Pop'.

Galaxy Robot Park started its soft opening period on 5 May, welcoming 20,000 visitors before it launched to the public.

Choi Yong-ho, CEO of Galaxy Corporation, said: "The fact that 20,000 people visited even before the official opening demonstrates the potential for robots to go beyond industry and become a new form of entertainment.

"The next step after K-pop is the combination of content and physical AI. We will make Galaxy Robot Park the beginning of a new era of global entertainment."

As above, Galaxy Corporation plans to expand the concept into markets across the world, including Dubai, Japan and the US.

The company aims to open a Galaxy Robot Arena in Dubai by the end of this year, Choi told the Korea Herald.

"We're opening in Dubai so tourists and foreign visitors from 100 countries around the world can experience physical robots," he said.

Galaxy Corporation’s next move is to create robot idols capable of going on worldwide tours.

"Current K-pop world tours are limited to around 30 to 35 countries. Humans have limitations," Choi said.

"Robots can go places; they can perform simultaneously, and they can do dangerous things."
