Intamin, a creator of record-breaking amusement rides, is celebrating the opening of a new LSM Multi Launch motorbike coaster at Fuji-Q Highland, one of the most popular amusement parks in Japan. Named Zokkon, the over 1,300-metre-long coaster reaches a height of 24 metres and top speeds of more than 70 kilometres per hour.
Fuji-Q Highland, located in the Fuji Five Lake region at the foot of Mount Fuji, is home to a number of thrilling, record-breaking roller coasters, alongside fun anime-themed rides and attractions. Riders on Zokkon, which uses Intamin’s most powerful LSM propulsion system, can experience four LSM launches, including a backward launch right after the breathtaking spike taking riders backwards to an indoor show scene.
Thrilling launches, turns and airtime moments
During the course of the ride, guests will experience twelve airtime moments, as well as thrilling turns and engaging ride elements, while seated on futuristic 14-seater motorbike-themed trains. Featuring integrated sound and lighting, these are in a side-by-side arrangement that seats two passengers per vehicle, complete with individual lap bars and foamed seats for comfort and safety.
The firm says: “Intamin is proud of having contributed to the success of Fuji-Q Highland and would like to thank the entire team for the outstanding cooperation.”
Last month, Drayton Manor Resort announced it is working with Intamin on a new family-friendly thrill coaster. The UK theme park told blooloop the new lift and launch coaster will open in 2024 as part of a multimillion-pound investment plan, continuing the park’s development under the ownership of the Looping Group.
The upcoming ride, which was teased earlier this year, will be the first coaster installed at Drayton Manor since 2011.
Intamin also recently presented the new Dragonwatch parachute tower at Toverland in the Netherlands. At around 20 meters high, the ride offers a spectacular view over Avalon World and the park beyond.
