Merlin Entertainments has opened its latest Lego Discovery Center in Washington, DC, home to an immersive ride and interactive building experiences.
Located in Virginia’s Springfield Town Center in the Washington metropolitan area, the 32,000-square foot attraction has soft launched before the official public opening on 14 August.
“The entire Lego Discovery Center Washington, DC team could not be more thrilled to be opening our doors and finally welcoming families to experience this interactive world of Lego fun,” said Therese Alvich, general manager.
“Children will be able to let their imagination run wild and flex their creativity in each of our unique zones.”
Merlin’s Lego Discovery Centers, formerly known as Legoland Discovery Centers, are next-generation attractions featuring a new look and design.
There are 27 Legoland Discovery Centers across the world. The first next-gen Lego Discovery Center opened in July 2022 in Brussels. The first Lego Discovery Center in North America launched in Atlanta earlier this year.
Interactive Lego experiences
The DC venue is home to Duplo Park for the youngest visitors, as well as an area dedicated to building with Lego bricks, the Imagination Express train ride, a space to make a custom mini-figure, the Lego Tree of Imagination, and a creative club.
Highlights also include Mini World, the Lego Cafe, the Hero Zone with a Lego laser maze and climbing wall, a 4D cinema, a workshop, and the Space Mission adventure.
In more Lego news, Legoland Korea Resort plans to invest approximately 100 billion won ($76 million) over the next five years, and Merlin reportedly plans to break ground on its new Legoland park in Beijing this year.
