Panasonic Connect, a leading audiovisual technology provider, has supplied 15 Panasonic 1-Chip DL 4K laser projectors and nearly 50 4K interactive displays for the official Game of Thrones Studio Tour at Linen Mill Studios in Northern Ireland.
Linen Mill Studios was the main filming location for the award-winning HBO series. Here, fans will experience iconic scenes in a highly immersive visitor experience, with reproduced sets accompanied by an extensive range of costumes, props, and weapons.
Creating authentic experiences
Game of Thrones received 272 international awards during its eight-season run of 73 episodes, creating a cultural phenomenon and developing an appetite for extraordinary fantasy entertainment.
Panasonic installed 15 Panasonic 1-Chip DLP 4K projectors throughout the tour to maintain the experience of such an outstanding production. Nearly 50 4K Panasonic professional and interactive displays, ranging in size from 55 to 98 inches, have also been deployed.
Visitors to the Game of Thrones Studio Tour can experience the feeling of being on-set thanks to Panasonic’s market-leading projection colour reproduction. Its 4K projectors display the highest level of detail, realism, and colour when projected onto any surface, including the stylised, angular environments that are associated with the series.
In order to make the attraction as authentic as possible and enhance the overall tourist experience, the projectors and displays are strategically positioned throughout the tour route. This is made possible by Panasonic’s choices for adaptable installation solutions, including Ultra Short Throw lenses that let viewers get near to the display without creating a shadow.
Panasonic’s projectors are renowned for their quality, which has been demonstrated in numerous installations across the globe. This quality ensures that guests can take pictures of the immersive projection for social media, a significant factor in optimising the success of the Game of Thrones Studio Tour.
Dependable & sustainable
The Panasonic 1-Chip DL 4K laser projectors are also known for being dependable, and require no maintenance for at least 20,000 hours in fixed installations. As a result, museums and attractions can maximise uptime.
The projectors also needed to meet sustainability requirements for the project. Features including standby and operation modes have reduced energy use, as the units can be carefully managed. The 1-Chip DLP 4K laser projectors also do not need incandescent bulbs to be changed frequently.
“This is the only Game of Thrones Studio Tour in the world,” says David Browne, executive director at Linen Mill Studio. “After our grand opening, we have had several of the wider Warner family and executive leadership team through the tour and they have been incredibly impressed with what they have seen, given the importance of the brand.
“We are delighted that it is being properly represented and what we have here for visitors to experience is truly world-class. Thanks to Panasonic, it is now possible to see the best that Game of Thrones can be in Northern Ireland.”
Earlier this year, Panasonic Connect celebrated the Petra Light Festival in Jordan, which transformed Petra into a kaleidoscope of light, music, and ideas.
