Moment Factory, the multimedia entertainment studio specialising in the conception and production of immersive environments, has partnered with UNICEF USA to create Heart Strings, an interactive walkthrough experience that showcases the stories of children around the globe through the universal language of music. This multimedia journey harnesses the power of music to transcend borders, cultures, and languages.
Heart Strings is a multi-room walkthrough experience featuring a series of musical multimedia installations that showcase children around the globe. Combining interactive engagement with educational content, the experience promotes learning through emotion, information, and entertainment.
Guests move through multiple interactive zones, helping to power a collaborative song. Zones include ‘Heart Beats’, where guest heartbeats contribute to the song’s rhythm; ‘Living Lyrics’, where selecting words from children’s quotes composes the song’s lyrics; and ‘Voices of Power’, where sharing messages of empowerment builds the song’s chorus.
Interactive experience to connect with children’s voices worldwide
Each zone is supported by dynamic stories of children worldwide. The experience culminates in ‘Harmony Hall’, where guests learn more about UNICEF initiatives and are encouraged to pledge their support.
In Living Lyrics, visitors read children’s quotes before approaching an interactive screen that features dynamic words and audio that lets them add lyrics to a song. Every time a visitor chooses a word from the screen, it adds to a series and produces a musical moment with children saying the words.
Voices of Power features a dynamic light installation with sound responsive “megaphones” that encourage viewers to join in on the song’s chorus. Their vocal contributions create a soundscape of remarks from UNICEF youth advocates, mixed with music and voices.
Finally, all of the song’s components come together in Our Song, an interactive space where guests can dance to on-screen graphics. Visitors can create dynamic effects using motion-sensor technology and interactive visuals, adding to the ever-changing environment that immerses everyone who enters.
Utilising the UNICEF pillars of “health,” “education,” “protection,” and “respect,” the installation highlights the organisation’s worldwide initiatives while motivating guests to take action. Heart Strings features the diverse voices, faces, and tales of kids from all across the world and uses amusement, education, and emotion to unite everyone who takes part.
An educational and empowering journey
Michael J. Nyenhuis, president and CEO of UNICEF USA, says:
“The first part of the exhibit talks about birth to a few years old, and what it’s like being a child, because we’re trying to connect you to the things that are important for children those first 1,000 days of their lives.”
He adds that other sections in the show explore themes such as education and the importance of being heard: “Our wish is for attendees to leave this emotional and educational journey with a sense of optimism in this world and are compelled to support UNICEF’s global mission right here in their own communities.”

The experience’s core message is all about empowerment, she adds: “We live in a very complex world, and so many people forget that as individuals, we can all have an impact. In each zone, there are actions either through movement or through voice, so people leave feeling that they really understand UNICEF’s mission and feel empowered that their own personal actions can influence and support children of the world.”
Moment Factory also recently collaborated with Primo Entertainment to create The Messi Experience, an interactive and immersive multi-room experience about Lionel Messi’s life and career.
