Aardman, the award-winning UK studio, has announced that its Shaun the Sheep IP, featuring the much-loved sheep and his friends at Mossy Bottom Farm, will be heading to The Sill: National Landscape Discovery Centre at Northumberland National Park this summer.
From 29 June until 8 September, visitors to The Sill can discover the ‘Shaun the Sheep: Love your Landscape’ exhibition, which features original artwork, props, and sets. They can also enjoy the Wild in Art Find the Flock art trail, featuring six super-sized Shaun the Sheep sculptures dotted around the grounds.
The exhibition will teach visitors how to positively impact the environment through engaging workshops and hands-on activities, including a family-friendly picnic at Walltown Country Park, wildlife safaris, a community litter cleanup, crafting and art projects, and creating useful objects from crisp packets.
Inspired by the stunning surrounding scenery, six large Shaun the Sheep sculptures can be found on The Sill’s grounds. The sculptures were created and decorated by local artists. Families and kids can follow the trail with an activity sheet, and each sculpture will provide a hint as to where the next one is located.
In addition, Walltown and The Sill shops will sell merchandise with Shaun the Sheep themes, and The Sill café will serve themed food.
A fun experience with an important message
Sarah Burn, head of engagement at Northumberland National Park, says:
“We’re delighted to be working in partnership with Aardman and Wild in Art to bring Shaun the Sheep to Northumberland this summer. We wanted to create a fun experience for visitors that will help more people to enjoy the countryside and understand and explore Northumberland National Park. The Love Your Landscape exhibition featuring Shaun the Sheep has been created to stimulate and nurture the next generation of landscape enthusiasts and ensure that these last wild places, and the communities within them, continue to thrive.”
Northumberland National Park encourages visitors to respect and care for it so that it remains a beautiful place for generations to come.
Molly Van Den Brink, attractions and live experiences manager at Aardman, adds:
“Shaun the Sheep always feels most at home in the great outdoors, so what better place for him to enjoy this summer than the beautiful Northumberland National Park! We are thrilled to be working with the team at The Sill on an event programme and exhibition with such a poignant message; encouraging families to learn all about how to enjoy nature and the countryside responsibly through the lens of Shaun’s world.
“The Northumberland National Park are one of our key partners aligning with our brand-new Shaun the Sheep: One Farm brand initiative, which encourages families to engage with issues around environment and sustainability in a fun and entertaining way.”
Aardman also recently entered into a new licensing partnership with Max-Matching Entertainments in China for farm attractions and family entertainment centres. The collaboration will create fun and engaging outdoor and indoor visitor experiences based on the Shaun the Sheep brand.
