Sphere Studios, the production house of Sphere Entertainment creating immersive experiences for the Sphere in Las Vegas, has hired Hollywood veteran Carolyn Blackwood.
Blackwood, who most recently served as chief operating officer of the Warner Bros. film studio, has become the head of the Burbank-based Sphere Studios.
In her new role, Blackwood will oversee the daily operations of Sphere Studios, which includes a team of creative, production, technology and software experts.
Creating immersive experiences for Sphere
With more than 25 years’ experience in the media and entertainment industry, she will also work closely with MSG Ventures, the division of Sphere Entertainment responsible for developing Sphere’s production technologies.
“Throughout my career, I have focused on creative and business innovation in the entertainment industry, as well as the pursuit of production excellence, and this is a tremendous opportunity to be part of the cutting-edge work at Sphere,” said Blackwood.

Blackwood has worked on more than 100 films for Warner Bros., including Barbie, The Lord of the Rings trilogy, and The Conjuring franchise.
The $2.3 billion Sphere venue opened in Las Vegas in September 2023. It is the world’s largest spherical structure.
