JOYOPOLIS

New sportainment destination for Kai Tak Mall, Hong Kong

CA Sega Joypolis, the operator of Japan’s biggest indoor amusement park, Tokyo Joypolis, has announced the opening of its first flagship outside Japan. Joypolis Sports Indoor Sportainment Park will be located in Kai Tak Mall, Hong Kong.

Joypolis is known as Japan’s top indoor amusement park thanks to its extensive and varied entertainment options. As it broadens its worldwide reach, this brand-new sports-themed park in Hong Kong will serve as the first Joypolis Sports flagship outside Japan. The venue covers around 30,000 square feet over five floors and has been specifically created for Kai Tai Sports Park. Visitors can enjoy more than 20 attractions that combine innovative entertainment with cutting-edge technology.

Takeshi Yoshimoto, CEO of CA Sega Joypolis, says:

“Opening the first authorised Joypolis Sports flagship outside Japan in Hong Kong is a significant step in our global expansion. We selected Kai Tak Sports Park and its Kai Tak Mall for its excellent location and first-class facilities, which are sure to attract many local and international visitors.

“We believe this new indoor amusement park, which combines cutting-edge technology and innovative entertainment elements, will bring unprecedented entertainment experiences and surprises to all visitors.”

First Sonic Stadium and more

The new destination has three themed zones, designed to give visitors a unique taste of interactive sports. Each floor’s theme combines play and sports. Like Tokyo Joypolis, it will collaborate with Japanese brands and IP on exclusive events with limited merchandise.

Visitors can experience modern ninja training in the Ninja Dojo zone, which mixes traditional Japanese ninja elements with the popular Ninja Warrior concept.

They can also discover the first Sonic Stadium in the Sonic the Hedgehog-themed interactive playground. It features many Sonic-themed entertainment facilities, including new experiences developed by CA Sega Joypolis. The playground zone, intended for kids between 0 and 6, has a range of kid-friendly games, including the bouncy Air Dome, a popular attraction in Japan. Adults and teenagers can participate in the races and games at Sonic Athletics.

Elsewhere, the Future Arena zone features the latest projects by CA Sega Joypolis, including state-of-the-art sports games from top developers. Thanks to MR (mixed reality) technology, these games get an immersive update, significantly increasing player engagement. Among them is the Valo Arena by ValoMotion, which is making its debut in Greater China. This uses special motion tracking and MR technology to let users enjoy exhilarating activities with friends and family without needing additional equipment.

Sports for all

On the top floor is Hungry Tiger Hidden Dragon by interdisciplinary designeKeo W., a restaurant and bar that blends sports elements with popular IPs. It offers healthy options and limited themed meals. It becomes a stylish bar in the evening, providing an interactive space for spectators and event participants.

Andrew Tsui, general manager of Joypolis Sports Hong Kong, says, “We are thrilled to bring Joypolis Sports to Hong Kong. With its mission “Sports for All Generations,” combined with the sportainment concept, unites the world’s top technology sports games to create a unique interactive experience for everyone.

“Joypolis Sports is dedicated to offering exciting and fun entertainment for both locals and visitors. Whether you’re a fitness enthusiast, new to sports, or just looking to relax with friends, Joypolis Sports has you covered. Our themed restaurant blends a healthy lifestyle with delicious food, providing a perfect spot to enjoy time with family and friends.

“Our goal is to become the leading sports social platform, and we believe the Joypolis Sports Hong Kong flagship will set off a new wave of sportainment excitement across the city.”

Elsewhere in Hong Kong, Hong Kong Disneyland has recently announced that it is expanding its Marvel experiences with a new themed area and Spider-Man attraction.
