Alton Towers is adding two new chilling attractions to its Scarefest event for Halloween 2024, including a live-action scare maze and an interactive family experience.
Scarefest, which runs from 11 October through 3 November, includes the new live-action scare maze, called Compound. This intense and disorientating attraction is based on the story of Nemesis Reborn and set within an intimidating and claustrophobic Phalanx facility.
During the experience, guests are plunged into a sinister sci-fi experiment by the Phalanx, a shady organisation originally tasked with keeping the Nemesis beast under control.
Also coming to Scarefest this year is a family-friendly attraction called Amigos in the Afterlife, located in the Alton Towers Dungeon, which has closed for a reimagining.
Compound
This experience is a vibrant world where guests are guided by friendly spirits in the afterlife as they attempt to find their way back to the world of the living.
Bianca Sammut, divisional director for Alton Towers, said: “Get ready for creepy scares, shocks and thrills as Scarefest returns and is more spooktacular than ever. From taking on our new and returning scare attractions, to creating unforgettable memories at our wealth of family attractions, Scarefest at Alton Towers Resort is going to be the ultimate celebration of Halloween.”
Joining the new experiences at Scarefest are returning haunts like Altonville Mine Tours – Tiny’s Revenge, the Attic: Terror of the Towers, and the resort’s outdoor scare zone, Burial Grounds.

Family-friendly scare attraction Trick O’ Treat Town with Haribo will also return this year, as will an escape room collaboration with YouTube star Daz Black. In addition, the park’s CBeebies Land will host Scarefest festivities, including the Monster Ball.
Elsewhere, Legoland Florida is launching a new Halloween experience this year – the Monster Skytacular drone show.
