Sarner International, the leading experiential design expert, is collaborating with the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust in Stratford-upon-Avon, UK, to develop a new visitor experience that explores the creative and cultural environments that helped shape the writer in his early years.
The new exhibition, which is set to open this spring, will offer a thought-provoking and insightful view of factors that influenced William Shakespeare, his work and his legacy.
Bradley Wynne, creative director, Sarner International, says: “Shakespeare’s Birthplace is one of the most important literary heritage sites in the world, and we are honoured to bring a fresh and immersive perspective to this extraordinary place.
“Our goal is to engage audiences in a way that sparks curiosity and conversation, making Shakespeare’s life and works resonate in new and meaningful ways.”
Importance of place
Visitors will journey through a series of spaces that combine historical narratives with immersive storytelling. The experiences include two new AV installations which use the Bard’s evocative language to place his creative practice in his home. Exhibitions of objects from the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust’s internationally significant collection explore the role of place in the writer’s life and work.
Rachael North, interim CEO of the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust, says: “Our new exhibition reflects the Trust’s commitment to preserving, celebrating and sharing the Shakespeare story with audiences.
“With this new, engaging experience we are focusing on William’s formative years and creative influences helping our visitor feel a personal connection to the beginnings of his extraordinary journey and the profound insights he continues to share on the human condition.”

The existing ‘Famous Beyond Words’ galleries will be replaced with the new exhibition, with installation expected to begin in late April. The opening date will be announced in due course.
While the exhibition is being installed, Shakespeare’s Birthplace will have a temporary admissions gate on Henley Street. This location has limited space, so visitors are advised to pre-book their visit to avoid queuing and use timed entry.
East Staffordshire Borough Council recently selected Sarner International to lead the initial visitor experience design stages for the Brewery Heritage & Social History Experience in Burton-upon-Trent, UK. The new immersive visitor attraction aims to celebrate the town’s significant contribution to brewing history and reinvigorate its reputation as the birthplace of IPA.
