Walt Disney World is set to open both of its water parks, Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach, for the first time since 2019.
Typhoon Lagoon will be open from 21 May through 7 September, meaning Disney World in Florida will have all six of its parks open during that time.
That’s Typhoon Lagoon, Blizzard Beach, Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, Epcot, and Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
Blizzard Beach, which celebrated its 30th anniversary yesterday (1 April) is now open, but it will temporarily close from 1 May until 20 May.
Since 2019, Disney World has been alternating each water park’s opening, with just one available to guests at a time.
Opened in 1989, Typhoon Lagoon is inspired by a tropical paradise with features like ships, fishing tackle and surfboards.
Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon open for summer
Its attractions include waterslides such as Crush ‘n’ Gusher, Bay Slides, and Storm Slides. It also houses a lazy river called Castaway Creek, as well as family-friendly water rides, and the largest wave pool in North America.
Blizzard Beach first opened in 1995. Attractions at this park include Summit Plummet; one of the tallest and fastest freefall body slides, and Teamboat Springs; one of the world’s longest group whitewater raft adventures.
Blizzard Beach also offers new Frozen-themed attractions, including Anna and Elsa’s igloo, and statuettes of Olaf and his Snowgie pals.
In more Disney news, the company is investing $60 billion in its parks, experiences and products division.
Projects include a major expansion of Disney Cruise Line, and new lands at Walt Disney World in Florida.
Highlights range from a Monsters, Inc. land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios to a land themed to Disney’s villains at Magic Kingdom
