MSC Cruises is ordering two more World Class ships to offer a total of six World Class vessels in its expanding fleet.
The cruise line has signed an order with ship builder Chantiers de l’Atlantique for the new LNG-powered ships, currently referred to as World Class 5 and 6.
These will be delivered in 2029 and 2030 respectively.
They will join MSC World Europa and MSC World America, as well as MSC World Asia and MSC World Atlantic.

These are currently under construction at the Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard in France and set to start sailing in 2026 and 2027 respectively.
MSC World America entered service in Miami last month.
Highlights on MSC Cruises’ new US flagship include seven distinct districts, 19 dining venues, 18 bars and lounges, and one of the longest dry slides at sea.
Also, the Harbour is a new outdoor venue on the ship featuring the Cliffhanger over-water swing ride, a ropes course, a water park, a playground, and relaxation areas.
New LNG-powered ships at MSC Cruises
MSC Cruises’ first World Class ship, MSC World Europa, was launched in November 2022. All World Class ships are powered by low-emission liquefied natural gas (LNG).
Headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland, MSC Cruises is the world’s third largest cruise line. It has 23 ships providing cruises across five continents.
Ben Wilson, MSC Cruises’ head of architecture and concept design, told blooloop last year: “One of the other things that make us stand out against the crowd is that we design for everyone.”

Disney Cruise Line is also expanding. Its fleet currently includes six ships, but will boast a total of 13 ships by 2031.
The project includes the new Disney Destiny and Disney Adventure ships, a new ship to sail from Japan, and four additional vessels.
