The operator and owner of IMG Worlds of Adventure in Dubai – the world’s largest indoor theme park – Ilyas & Mustafa Galadari Group has announced that a new park will be created opposite the existing park.

Covering 2 million square feet, “IMG Worlds of Legends” will be over twice the size of the existing park. It will be spread over nine zones and will include interactive rides, roller coasters, live entertainment and water-based attractions. The attraction will be under a temperature-controlled environment with a retractable roof.

The new theme park and attractions will be populated with characters from the stables of major IP holders. These include Ubisoft, Mattel, Nickelodeon, Saban Brands, Pokémon, Cartoon Network, Toei Animation and TV TOKYO.

Ilyas and Mustafa Galadari, owners of the Ilyas & Mustafa Galadari Group said, “We are fast becoming the family entertainment capital of the Middle East with high growth prospects that permit us to plan for the long term. We look forward to welcoming residents as well as visitors from the region and abroad to enjoy a unique theme park adventure like no other.”

It will be connected to IMG World of Adventure via a sky bridge and a pedestrian walkway. A multi-park pass will be available.

Construction is set to start 2017 with an opening planned for 2019.

IMG and Nickelodeon

One area will boast up to 12 Nickelodeon-branded rides and attractions. Character properties will include SpongeBob SquarePants and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Gerald Raines, SVP, Global Recreation Business Development, Nickelodeon, said,  “We are working with IMG to develop a Nickelodeon park within their larger Worlds of Legends theme park. This is the phase two of their Worlds of Adventure theme park that opened earlier this year.

“The Nickelodeon area will be part of a park with other non-Nick properties, including Cartoon Network and Marvel. Though details of its size are being kept under wraps, it is expected to be one of the largest Nickelodeon parks in the world.”

The new Dubai park continues the growth of Nickelodeon-branded attractions across the world.

“Our U.S. base is strong but we are seeing the most growth in this sector internationally. There are emerging markets that are craving Western IPs, ” Raines said.
