EPIC Entertainment Group, a producer of themed entertainment, live events, and immersive environments, has delivered an immersive experience for the grand reopening of Hotel del Coronado in California. From sunrise to sunset, the company turned the property into a vibrant tribute to the hotel’s historic legacy and contemporary future.
EPIC carefully crafted a comprehensive all-day event for Hotel del Coronado, seamlessly blending elegance, innovation, and history across the iconic property, fulfilling its ambitious vision.
“This was a 12-hour orchestration of story, space, and experience,” says Charity Hill, co-founder and executive producer of EPIC Entertainment Group.
“Our role is to take our client’s vision and elevate it through thoughtful creative, intentional design, and seamless delivery. Every sensory moment, from sound to scent, was purposefully curated to bring Hotel del Coronado’s legacy and future to life.”
Entertainment & a celebrity touch
The day started under the Dragon Tree at a bespoke Grand Opening pop-up, offering chilled towels, spa water, and info as a tranquil starting point before exploring the resort’s curated experiences.
At the spa patio, infused waters and shaded lounges offered a calming break. The highlight was the Garden Party, immersing guests in Hotel del’s spirit. Entering with a “garden key,” visitors met living statues representing eras from 1888, 1938, 1988, and 2038, blending history with future vision. The statues changed poses while electric violinists played modern hits across the grounds.
Ballerinas danced inside golden bird cages while guests enjoyed botanical cocktails, zero-proof elixirs, and an elegant avocado toast bar. Custom crowns made by the renowned Man of Wire served as keepsakes for a truly regal event. A special proclamation from the mayor and a warm welcome from celebrity host Brooke Shields added a star touch to the celebration.
Lunch was at the resort’s outlets, where guests enjoyed dishes from Del’s newest restaurants and Nobu’s standout selections.
Honouring the past & celebrating the future
In the afternoon, DJ Araminta played upbeat Top 40 on the rooftop Sun Deck as guests enjoyed “liquid sunshine” cocktails under the California sky. Shore House offered a poolside escape with boozy pops, sunscreen, oyster shooters, and micro-massages in luxe cabanas.
Models lounged on floats as Aquabatix synchronised swimmers performed aquatic acts. Later, guests enjoyed golden hour at Ocean Club with a mezcal happy hour hosted by Dos Hombres. Spanish guitarist David de Alva provided music while guests sampled The Only caviar with founder Aaron Paul.
As the sun set, the celebration continued on Windsor Lawn. The luxurious California coastal-themed event included nine food stations, three bars, a cigar lounge, and a scent bar. Guests played lawn games, watched a de Alva performance, and witnessed the lowering of the American flag at sunset. The night ended with American Idol winner Chayce Beckham‘s performance and a 7-minute fireworks show.
“A production of this magnitude is only possible when every detail is considered and every moment is managed with precision,” says Steve Sheldon, co-founder and executive producer at EPIC Entertainment Group.
“With multiple locations, timelines, and teams working in sync, our goal was to create a seamless flow of experiences that honored the past while celebrating the future. It’s what we do best- turning vision into unforgettable reality.”
The reopening is one of many collaborations between EPIC and Hotel del Coronado. EPIC also leads the hotel’s seasonal productions, including holiday décor and immersive pop-ups that reimagine hotel activations.
EPIC Entertainment Group’s client list includes Crayola, Hersheypark, Ritz Carlton, and Santa Monica Pier, among others. It specialises in bold creative direction and top-tier production for destination brands and legacy properties.
