Event Network, a leading retail operator and e-commerce solution for experiential cultural attraction stores, has teamed up with the National Museum of the United States Army to offer a wonderful new way to shop online, a 3d virtual store.

The new 3D virtual storefront—operated by Event Network—transforms traditional webpage “menu” browsing into an exciting and fully immersive walkthrough experience of the Museum Store.

Guests from anywhere can tour the beautiful new space while discovering an array of National Army Museum and Army offerings. The virtual store can be viewed using tablets, smartphones, desktop computers, and even VR goggles at shop.armyhistory.org.

3D environment showcases thematic details

The 3D virtual environment exposes guests to the many thematic details that make an in-person visit to the National Army Museum Store so special. From its modern architectural design and the use of authentic military gear and materials, to merchandising displays that honor the Army’s past, present, and future – there is lots to see beyond the merchandise.

Shopping at the 3d virtual store, online visitors can take in the Museum’s mission, and enjoy a holistic Museum Store experience in the authentic way it was intended.

“Connecting emotionally to a physical space is a big part of the shopping experience, particularly at a poignant destination such as the National Museum of the United States Army, which is steeped in meaning and purpose,” said Andrea Froehle, Vice president of Marketing & Communications, Event Network, the Museum’s retail partner operating the online and brick-and-mortar stores.

“While online shopping is certainly convenient, there’s a multi-sensory aspect of visiting a store that consumers crave. This 3D virtual shopping experience delivers the best of both worlds – and creates a consistent, omni-channel experience to meet guests where they are.”

Navigating the 3D virtual store

The 3D technology conveys a sense of scale and spatial depth that simply cannot be achieved with standard photography. Navigation features let shoppers enjoy the visit at their own pace in a variety of ways

  • Move freely through the store layout, viewing the surroundings from different angles and perspectives, and stopping in designated areas to explore products.
  • Hover over highlighted items to learn more details about them.
  • Browse the selection of custom National Army Museum and Army clothes and accessories in stunning displays throughout the store.
  • Discover unique toys and more playful collectibles along with books, duffle bags, backpacks and an array of novelty memorabilia by simply clicking to zoom into different areas.
  • Simply add items to your cart for checkout.

Among the 3d virtual store’s notable features is the Gratitude Wall. Shoppers can take a peek at postcards and notes left behind, thanking soldiers for their service and sacrifice.

In addition to shopping, guests can peek into the Museum Lobby and catch a glimpse of the campaign streamers on the ceiling and the massive granite campaign wall.

“As a natural extension of the museum, the online 3D virtual retail store upholds the high standards we set for delivering an excellent visit in every way,” said Kerri Kline, Vice President of Operations, The Army Historical Foundation.

“We are thrilled to apply innovation to all aspects of the guest experience, so that more people can enjoy the full interactive feeling of stepping inside the museum. Every purchase helps preserve the history and heritage of our Army Soldiers.”

Event Network recently announced the addition of 10 new retail partnerships that were formerly operated by Wildlife Trading Company.

The company also wrote about retail trends in 2021 as the attractions industry recovers from COVID.
