Leading creator of immersive attractions and experiences, Sarner International, is celebrating another award for the Cittadella Visitors’ Centre on the island of Gozo.

The AV Awards recognise best practice, reward innovation and celebrate excellence across the global audio visual industry.

Sarner created the interactive Cittadella Visitors’ Centre in close cooperation with the Ministry for Gozo’s John Cremona, Project Leader for the Cittadella Rehabilitation Project.

The stories surrounding this historic site were brought to life with an immersive visitor journey created following major renovation work.

Visitors engage with 2000 years of history delivered via a range of interactive technologies as well as captivating visuals and audio.

Sarner’s Managing Director, Ross Magri was on hand to collect the award and thanked the Ministry for Gozo for trusting Sarner with such an historic project.

The Cittadella walk-through draws visitors deeper into the building and its story

“The Cittadella Visitors’ Centre encompasses some impressive AV technology and takes the visitor on an immersive journey through thousands of years of Gozo’s history,” he added.

“It was a fantastic project with many challenges, but to receive this, our second award, is an amazing accomplishment and recognition must go to our extremely passionate and hardworking team at Sarner.”

Sarner made the most of the centre’s unique architecture, converted from a former water reservoir. The walk-through exhibition draws the visitor deeper and deeper within the building, and into the story.

Visitors engage with the story via interactivity and technology within nine multi-language zones. The journey’s climax is the dramatic 360° Cittadella Show set within the impressive theatrical space of the repurposed reservoir.

“The judges felt this was a very imaginative use of space with great technology which has successfully overcome some challenging AV problems,” commented Editor of AV Magazine, Clive Couldwell.

“They praised the great content which has been generated with fantastic production values, and described it as an excellent submission that presented well the full scope of a well-executed project.”
