The SPREE Arena is a ‘game-changer’ for Happy City in Medellin, Colombia

SPREE Interactive, a leading provider of active free-roam VR experiences, is celebrating the success of its new attraction in Medellin, Colombia.

The trailblazing SPREE Arena is the company’s first South American project and the first VR attraction at the Happy City family entertainment centre (FEC). And the SPREE Arena has continued to lead the way, with a record-breaking month that has generated revenue of Col$13.959m for Happy City.

The FEC is able to charge a premium price per play for this guest magnet, which is more than double the price of video or redemption arcade attractions. Happy City has found that the SPREE Arena has added value across its pay-to-play offer, with an overall increase in players of 1,400.

With FECs in 27 cities around Colombia and 40 years of experience in the sector, Happy City is a leader in this market. Its investment in the SPREE Arena is part of its ongoing commitment to innovation and cutting-edge immersive experiences.

Designed for 6-12-year-olds

Adriana Mercado, marketing director of Happy City, says: “The SPREE Arena arrived at our venue as part of a complete renovation that is being made to our FEC; this attraction complements our offering by adding an interactive and kid-friendly virtual reality space. As a multi-target attraction, our main objective is to attract traffic and increase the time spent in our family entertainment center, and the SPREE Arena is helping us to meet this objective.”

This new attraction has an expanding selection of family-friendly games, where visitors can enjoy the VR experience together. The whole family can join in the fun as every game is designed to be accessible and enjoyable for players of all ages.

It has helped us attract new customers by offering an innovative, fun, multiplayer attraction perfect for our target demographic of 6-12-year-olds. The extensive game catalog and the high number of players per game convinced us that SPREE was the ideal solution for our venue.”

SPREE Interactive’s VR attractions are ideally suited to birthday parties and offer a high-volume quick-play model as they only need one operator.

New games are released twice a year for 6-12-year-olds and together with seasonal add-ons they keep the FEC’s repeat visit rate high.

SPREE Interactive recently announced that it has joined the German Accelerator US cohort. This leading initiative offers support to German start-ups that are moving into the US market.
