Aratag, a mobile application for visitors to zoos, museums, parks and other tourist attractions, is offering a free trial period to attractions.

As zoos, aquariums and museums around the world are reopening, Aratag is offering attractions the chance to try its app for free. The Aratag app was launched in November 2019 by Pangea Rocks.

Free trial period for attractions

Attractions will be able to apply for an Aratag license now. This license will be activated from September, and attractions will only need to start paying in 2021.

During this free period, Aratag will provide full support for digital content creation and uploads.

The mobile app is currently being used in attractions from Finland, Germany, China and the USA.

‘Near You’ system

The Aratag app aims to present information to visitors in an engaging and easy to use format. The ‘Near You’ system shows visitors which animals are in front of them by using GPS beacons placed at specific points of interest around the attraction.

Zoos can then upload information, videos or even an audio guide about these animals, providing visitors with a more in-depth knowledge of the animals they see.

This also gives visitors the chance to continue learning after their visit, as they can go back and revisit the information at home. This information can also highlight a zoo or aquarium’s conservation efforts.

Analytical tools to get feedback from visitors

This ‘Near You’ feature can also be used in museums, providing visitors with interesting information about an artefact or artwork. This helps prevent crowding as visitors don’t have to fight to read small information boards.

The Aratag app can also be used to communicate special offers, showtimes, or even new regulations in a post-coronavirus world. Powerful analytical tools allow operators to get direct feedback from visitors and see what objects or exhibition were most visited.

The Aratag app continued to support attractions when they were closed by giving them a way of presenting exhibits online. This allowed them to connect with and educate visitors remotely.
