Anaheim residents shared their opinions on the proposed DisneylandForward expansion during an open house this week.
The public meeting was hosted at Anaheim City Hall on Wednesday (10 April) before Anaheim City Council members vote on the project on 16 April.
Via a CBS News report, one resident, Jeanine Robbins, lives close to the Toy Story parking lot where new attractions could be built. She said: “We have trouble with the noise, the traffic. So, I can’t imagine it being even closer.”
“We’re concerned about wages, the 15 million new tourists, the 14-thousand more low-wage employees, the streets that they’re going to take,” said Mike Robbins.Â

“They’re saying they’re all going to be indoors, the ones closes to the houses,” Jeanine said on the resort’s new attractions. “It doesn’t matter, I mean, the people, the tourists, everything. There’s a noise issue.”
Other residents at the open house voiced their support for Disneyland‘s plans. “We need to bring more visitors to the park. More visitors to the park means more money for Anaheim,” said Beverly Griggs. “That’s a good thing.”
Disneyland is to invest $1.9 billion over the next decade in new lands, attractions, hotels, and retail and dining outlets. The plans include potential experiences based on Frozen, Tangled, Peter Pan, Zootopia, Toy Story and Tron.
Disneyland’s $1.9 billion investment
If the development agreement is approved, Disney would also need to spend another $90 million on parking structures, pedestrian bridges, road improvements and street acquisitions in the resort area.
Additionally, Disneyland would invest $30m in affordable housing and $8m in parks in Anaheim.
Disney is to spend $30 billion on its theme parks over the next decade as part of a total $60bn investment in its parks, experiences and products division.
The company recently confirmed plans for “probably the largest expansion ever” at Magic Kingdom in Florida.
