Japan's Hello Kitty Theme Park Launches VR Tour App to Boost Attendance from Overseas

Japan’s Hello Kitty theme park, Sanrio Puroland, has teamed up with InstaVR to create a virtual reality tour of the park.

The app has been designed as a marketing tool to attract more visitors from overseas and grow the park’s exposure globally in an engaging way.

Sanrio hope to gain insights from consumer use of the app to guide VR content development. This could include adding interactivity to the app with hot spots and navigation.

Created for Gear VR, it takes viewers on a journey around the park in the company of Hello Kitty and other Sanrio characters.

The app took just three weeks to create from filming to final delivery.
