Merlin Entertainments wins Prestigious “Best Management team” Award

News

At an event to celebrate the best of British private business, the Sunday Times PricewaterhouseCoopers Profit Track 100 Awards event singled out Merlin Entertainments for its prestigious ‘Best Management Team’ award.

Presented by sponsor Suzi Woolfson of PricewaterhouseCoopers, the Award is recognition of the success of the Group as one of the country’s star performing companies – showing sustained growth that has now made it the world’s second largest visitor attractions operator in the world, after Disney.  Merlin had already won the No 1 award for the top company in the category – ‘10 Biggest’ private equity owned companies with the fastest-growing profits over £50m.

The Award was accepted by CFO, Andrew Carr and Commercial Services Director Andy Davies, on behalf of the Merlin Entertainments team.

Speaking about the Award, Merlin’s CEO Nick Varney said:  “The last 18 months have been intense and my colleagues and I are very proud of what we have built.  Merlin is an exceptional leisure business with iconic brands and a management team which has always had a profound belief in the company’s potential.  It is very good to see the skills of that team honoured.  Merlin’s success lies in the strength and enthusiasm of its people – and their ability to maximise organic growth within the business through planned investment, and high levels of customer service.   I believe that we can now go from strength to strength and have a unique opportunity to become the world leader in our sector.”
