The in-app photo tool has been developed for Alton Towers and is now available to market.

Attractions.io, a leading creator of mobile visitor apps, has announced that it has developed a new photo feature for Alton Towers, in partnership with Pomvom.

The two leading IT innovators have collaborated to incorporate Pomvom’s digital photo solution into the Attractions.io ecosystem. This gives visitors more options for viewing, purchasing, and sharing media from their visits.

Attractions.io, the guest experience platform powering popular mobile applications for Merlin Entertainments, the San Diego Zoo, and the Kennedy Space Centre, has partnered with Pomvom to provide a new in-app photo integration for businesses using the Attractions.io platform.

With the integration, operators may sync their Pomvom photo solution with the Attractions.io mobile app, providing visitors with an easy, linked platform that handles their entire experience.

Frictionless photo purchases

Visitors no longer need to buy images on the spur of the moment and then carry these all day.

The in-app photo tool provides guests with limitless time to consider their purchases, as visit media remains available in the app after visitors have left the attraction. This improves the guest experience as they do not feel pushed into a quick decision at an on-site photo kiosk, when they could be moving on to their next ride.

Instead, visitors can browse all of their media using the photo tab in the app, and then use Apple Pay, their Google Wallet or standard card payment to buy their favourites.

With social media making visual decision-making more widespread than ever, visitors often look for ideas in social media posts from their friends and networks.

This user-generated content outperforms any commercial advertisement. We not only trust our friends and family, but we also find it simpler to picture ourselves enjoying an activity when we see others that we relate to having a good time. 92% of us trust recommendations from people we know more than any other sort of advertisement.

The photo integration between Attractions.io and Pomvom allows you to capitalise on this user-generated material. After purchasing their images using the app, visitors can easily post them on social media to share their experiences with friends and family.

Alton Towers launch

After an effective trial period at Christmas, Alton Towers Resort, the UK’s largest theme park and a long-standing customer of Attractions.io and Pomvom, introduced in-app photographs earlier this year.

Chris Wilson, e-commerce manager at Alton Towers, says: “We view our mobile app as the foundation of our digital guest experience. Collaborating with Attractions.io and Pomvom to bring photos into the Alton Towers App represents the next step in building the ultimate digital companion for guests.”

“Launched for the 2023 season, the new photo feature is already proving to be a fantastic
digital option for guests visiting the Resort. It provides them with the perfect memento of their day, ensuring they have cherished memories to take home and share with friends and family.”

An expanding suite of tools

In-app photos are the newest addition to the range of tools that Attractions.io has released in the last six months. These include hotel check-in capabilities and expanded native payment integrations.

Wilson continues: “These enhancements have transformed the app into an invaluable tool for guests visiting our attraction, who can manage their entire experience from their mobile.”

By bringing the new integration to market, Attractions.io and Pomvom can support visitor attractions in generating revenue through user-generated content and in-app photo purchases.

Peter O’Dare, head of product at Attractions.io, says: “By integrating Pomvom into the Attractions.io ecosystem, we are excited to offer attractions an additional opportunity to increase secondary spending and broaden their social reach.”

“Pomvom were already doing great work to digitise the photo experience. Connecting their solution with our end-to-end experience platform makes it easier for guests to manage their experience and gives operators the greater ability to influence purchases. By using the photo integration in conjunction with our segmentation and messaging tools, operators can encourage guests to buy and share their media, even after they have left for the day.”

Brendan Hegarty, managing director at Pomvom, comments: “We’re excited to work with Attractions.io to deliver a seamless and engaging photo experience to mobile app users. Our photo solutions are designed to enhance the overall guest experience and enable attractions to unlock new revenue streams. We’re thrilled to see the positive feedback from our launch at Alton Towers and look forward to helping more attractions achieve similar success.”

Attractions.io recently joined forces with Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex to develop a new experience platform. This aims to improve communication, navigation, and accessibility for the guests at the 70-acre site.
