New Disneyland-inspired theme park for Vietnam. The Bắc Ninh People’s Committee has approved plans for a large scale amusement park and residential eco-project to be constructed in the province.
Vietnam Investment Review reports that the project is likely to stretch over around 1,400 hectares, in the province situated to the east of Hanoi. It will offer residential housing, farming and a hi-tech agricultural research area alongside a large amusement park. The park will be based on Disneyland but will also feature Vietnamese cultural characteristics.
The project’s aim is to form a multi-functional urban area, helping to meet the need in the province for socio-economic development. The urban area is likely to house an estimated population of around 80,000 people. This figure includes the existing population of Phu Lam, Noi Due, Tuong Giang, Tam Son and Lim towns. It is set to feature a central area with a large square, sports centre, golf academy, commercial centres and health facilities.
The Bắc Ninh Department of Construction will take a lead in the project, and will coordinate with other authorities from Tu Son town.
Vietnam attractive investment destination
Vietnam has a young population demographic – 60% of the population is under 30 – and an affluent middle class ready to embrace new entertainment options. The 5 million Vietnamese who travel abroad each year and spend $6 billion on the trips could be enticed to staycation at new integrated resorts and theme parks.
In 2017, Sun Group officially opened Dragon Park at Sun World Ha Long, the largest theme park in Southeast Asia in 2017, managed by Parques Reunidos.
