The Ocean Project, the largest network advancing ocean conservation around the world, is welcoming applications to join the World Ocean Day Youth Advisory Council for 2021 – 2022. This is a group of 25 global young ambassadors for the ocean who work together to expand the reach and impact of World Ocean Day, which takes place every year on 8 June.
The Youth Advisory Council helps to shape the development of World Ocean Day, coming up with new ideas and seeing the event from new perspectives. World Ocean Day aims to connect people around to world in a mission for a healthier ocean and a more sustainable way of life.
The Ocean Project develops youth engagement and leadership
Members of the Youth Advisory Council will be ambassadors and advisors for World Ocean Day in their communities. This unique opportunity also amplifies the voices and activism of young people and connects them with both local and global opportunities
Council members will serve for one year and will be expected to spread the word about World Ocean Day, developing and promoting events. As part of a team, they will work to increase the impact of the event as well as providing guidance for the overall strategic focus of World Ocean Day and ways to further involve younger generations.
Through the blog, website, social media and more, they will share ideas about individual and collective action for the world’s oceans, and will also share campaigns across their own networks.
Applicants must be aged 16 – 24 and can be from any country. The deadline for applications is Saturday 31 July 2021. To apply, please click here.
