by Geoffrey Dixon, A Different View
In April 2021 commissioned by greenloop, A Different View, working with Panelbase.com, conducted a survey of 1,100 visitors to UK attractions. The aim was to develop an understanding of what actions on sustainability they were taking in their everyday lives, as well as what they wanted or expected from the attractions they visited.
Furthermore, I conducted seven one-to-one interviews with senior leaders in the attractions sector from the US, Europe and New Zealand. I listened to their views and narratives on sustainability, how they were reacting to environmental change and also what they saw as the benefits and the challenges facing their operations.
The results of the quantitative survey and the one-to-one interviews were then presented at the first-ever greenloop conference in May 2021. In addition, a more comprehensive report of the results was made available and can be downloaded from here.

Narratives on sustainability
The senior leaders from the seven attractions had so much more to say than I could put into the greenloop presentation and in the initial report. So, as a result, we have produced, ‘Narratives on Sustainability’ which you can download now.
Our ‘Narratives on Sustainability’ report covers nine main areas of sustainability and environmental, social and corporate governance:
- Supply chain management
- Employees
- Investors and stakeholders
- Utilities
- Market perceptions
- Communications
- Mobility
- External and regulatory influence
- Innovation
Visitors and attractions will continue to change in how they react to sustainability and environmental challenges. Greenloop and A Different View, partnering with Panelbase.com, will conduct further studies to monitor developments.
A Different View is a strategic business consulting firm and full-service market research agency serving the attractions industry.
