Walt Disney World’s ‘The Soul of Jazz: An American Adventure‘ exhibit is heading to three US museums after launching at Epcot’s The American Adventure earlier this year.
The Soul of Jazz: An American Adventure features Joe Gardner from Disney and Pixar’s Soul, who takes audiences on a musical tour of the US.
The exhibit was first introduced at The American Adventure at Walt Disney World’s Epcot, showcasing objects that belonged to famous jazz musicians including Louis Armstrong.
Disney is taking The Soul of Jazz beyond the parks to the New Orleans Jazz Museum, the American Jazz Museum in Kansas City, and the National Jazz Museum in Harlem.
Musical tour of the US
The three museums collaborated with Walt Disney Imagineering (WDI) to recreate the Epcot experience, which features a unique collection of artefacts and maquettes of characters Joe Gardner and Dorothea Williams.
Musician and co-composer of Soul, Jon Batiste, hopes the exhibit will inspire guests to sing and dance, and said “jazz really has the ability to do that and add to that vision in a way that’s tremendous”.
The Soul of Jazz is opening at the New Orleans Jazz Museum on October 26. New Orleans is commonly considered to be the ‘birthplace of jazz’.
The exhibit arrives at the American Jazz Museum in Kansas City, Missouri on December 10, and at the National Jazz Museum in NYC in February 2022.

Carmen Smith, vice president of creative development at WDI, said Disney worked with “jazz experts and institutions across the country to explore the rich history and influence of this ever-evolving genre of music”.
Walt Disney World Resort has also opened a Disney Wish exhibit at Disney’s Hollywood Studios that showcases the latest innovative ship from Disney Cruise Line.
The Disney Wish is set to sail its maiden voyage on June 9, 2022. Guests will be immersed in themed environments and experiences based on Disney, Pixar, Marvel and Star Wars IP.
