Dronisos, a leading drone light show specialist, has provided its technology for a striking new show at Disneyland Paris, France.
The theme park resort, which opened as EuroDisney in 1992, has commenced its 30th-anniversary celebrations with a series of new attractions and entertainment options. This includes Disney D-Light, a new nighttime spectacular which utilises the expertise of the Bordeaux-based tech entertainment company.
A spectacle of beauty
The brand new illuminated drone display delivers a memorable close to an eventful day at Disneyland Park. The meticulously synchronised drones form a sparkling “30” figure in the sky above the newly refurbished Le Château de la Belle au Bois Dormant (Sleeping Beauty Castle). The number also doubles as a simplified silhouette of Mickey Mouse, which is also the basis of the celebration’s logo, used on marketing and throughout the resort.
A new anthem, Un monde qui s’illumine (A world that lights up), has been composed as the theme for the 30th Anniversary event. The new dance soundtrack was recorded with a sixty-strong symphony orchestra at the famous Abbey Road Studios in London, most known for its part in The Beatles’ legacy.
The show also features video projections alongside illuminated water jets, lighting effects, mist and lasers on the moat in front of the castle.
Drones have been shown to be a more cost-efficient and sustainable alternative to fireworks, increasingly being used for New Year celebrations and by international venues such as Expo 2020 Dubai and historical reenactment park Puy du Fou.
The use of drones marks a landmark step for The Walt Disney Company, which is using the technology for the first time as part of a daily outdoor show at a park property. The company says it is “the next step in the development of experiences that are increasingly immersive and engaging for Guests through innovative technologies”.
Continuing the celebrations
The park will also open Avengers Campus, a “reimagineering” of the former Walt Disney Studios Backlot area. Rock n Rollercoaster avec Aerosmith is currently being transformed into Iron Man Jukebox, with a new facade and pre-show area. Web Slingers: A Spider-Man Adventure will be a new addition to the park, bringing guests into the superhero action with an interactive dark ride experience. Both new rides will open this summer.
A new outdoor feature, the Gardens of Wonder is now showcased to guests, featuring a series of kinetic installations featuring popular Disney/Pixar characters.

Disneyland Paris has also released an expanded menu with themed food for the anniversary, including an exclusive version of one of Walt’s favourite dishes, chilli con carne, and the special Celebration Cake, a white chocolate and strawberry pastry cake served under a dome.
Dronisos recently reviewed its latest full year of installation success at venues around the world, including Address Montgomerie Golf Club in Dubai and the Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympics.
