Drayton Manor Resort’s new ‘Vikings’ land is opening on 28 May 2022, offering the ‘Thor’ and ‘Loki’ thrill rides, the new ‘Walhalla’ restaurant, and Viking-themed hotel rooms.
Inspired by ancient gods and legends, the Vikings area will feature Thor, a Zamperla Disk’o Coaster, and Loki, the UK’s first Zamperla Nebulaz.
“After seeing the buzz and excitement following the big reveal, we are thrilled to finally be welcoming guests to our exciting and mythical new Vikings-themed area,” said the park’s new managing director, Victoria Lynn (via Birmingham Live).
Highlights also include the ‘Sleipnir’ attraction and family-friendly ‘Jormungandr’ coaster. The new Walhalla restaurant will serve dishes such as pulled pork, jacket potatoes and chicken wings.
Walhalla is inspired by the great hall in Norse mythology where heroes who die in battle are received. It features traditional wooden benches and a BBQ pit.
Vikings land opens 28 May
Drayton Manor‘s hotel will be home to 10 new Viking-themed rooms with Nordic-inspired furnishings. Traditional wooden panelling is decorated with shields and paintings of Viking voyages.
Lynn described the Vikings land at Drayton Manor as an “immersive new action-packed area” with “exhilarating rides and attractions”.
“We’re so thankful to our amazing team, who have been working incredibly hard behind the scenes to get Vikings ready for fun seekers all over the UK,” Lynn added.
“The area is designed with each member of the family in mind, so there really is something for everyone. We know our guests will love it and can’t wait to throw open the gates and welcome thrill seekers of all ages on May 28.”
Drayton Manor recently unveiled a new look as part of its future development plans. Lynn said the rebrand “frames the future direction of the resort perfectly, with a shift in focus over the coming years”.
