Drayton Manor in Staffordshire has announced a new ‘Vikings’ area that opens in spring 2022, with thrill rides called ‘Thor’ and ‘Loki’, the new ‘Walhalla’ restaurant, and Viking-themed hotel rooms.

The new land, inspired by ancient gods and legends, will feature a Zamperla Disk’o Coaster called Thor that sends riders spinning in a giant wheel across a coaster track. The UK’s first Zamperla Nebulaz, called Loki, is a family thrill ride with eight gondolas and four arms.

The new ‘Sleipnir’ attraction will take young visitors on an exciting journey through a training school where they will learn how to become a powerful god. Also for younger guests is the ‘Jormungandr’ mini coaster, a reimagining of the Buffalo Coaster.

The Walhalla restaurant is inspired by the great hall in Norse mythology where heroes who die in battle are received. The F&B outlet features traditional wooden benches as well as a BBQ pit.

In addition, Drayton Manor‘s hotel will offer 10 new Viking-themed rooms with Nordic-inspired furnishings. Traditional wooden panelling is embellished with shields and paintings of Viking voyages.

Drayton Manor was purchased by the Looping Group in 2020. The company operates 16 leisure parks across the UK, France, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Germany, Spain and Portugal.

Last week, Drayton Manor announced a new managing director, Victoria Lynn, who will lead the park’s development plans and expand its family-friendly offerings.

Drayton Manor opened a new nautical-themed area last year called Adventure Cove, which was the first investment phase from Looping Group.
